Example — Creating a Brand New Spell

Let’s look at our Runes, and decide which one we want to use. Let’s start with a Rune of Telepathy:

SoC • Rune - Telepathy

Let’s make it simple and use one of the examples provided! — “Succeed in an Opposing Roll Anima vs. Will against a target Creature in your Zone, to read its thoughts for 1 hour. Every Round repeat the same Opposing Roll, if you Fail the Spell ends.”

Since we used only 1 Rune we must pay 1 Energy to cast the following Spell:

SoC • Spell - Sanctified Insight

Now you can further modify it, for example you can make it an Area Spell if you have the corresponding Rune, so that it target all Creatures in a Zone.
Or you can increase the potency of the Telepathy Effect to gain Advantage on the roll. The possibility are endless, but before anything be sure your GM approves of your final spell!

Example — Modifying an Existing Spell

Let’s start by taking a simple Basic Spell, Vanish:

We want to make it an Area spell so that each of our allies can become Invisible as well.

SoC • Rune - Area

So we can create a spell like so:

SoC • Spell - Mass Invisibility

Example — Creating a Spell with a Single Rune

Even if our Character knows only a few Runes, it doesn’t mean we are out of options. Just one Rune can allow us to Create many different Effects. Our only limits are: our imaginations, the GM.

We can use even a single Rune, let’s take for example the “Transport” Rune:

If we combine it multiple times in a Single Spell we can create something like this:

SoC • Spell - Angel's Ascent
